Pam's Life

Dedicated to the memory of Henry Charles Hennings, Jr. This tribute is in loving gratitude for the many gifts he gave us all. Any donation in Henry's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation would be gratefully received. Go to www.jdrf.org, and revisit www.pamslife.com for information regarding the Spring 2010 silent auction and JDRF benefit at Ben Rogers Park in Milpitas. Thank you, may God bless you, and may you "always keep a diamond in your mind." (--Tom Waits)

Welcome to the Blog About Nothing.

If you want to read about the hometown, scroll down until you see a photo of Piedmont Road, read those two little paragraphs and check out the drive-by of 237. If you want to take a glimpse into my strange, boring life then read it all, baby.

Gig Was Good.

Got scouted AND made a lucky $13 in tips. There was an average of about 20-25 people in the store between 11 and 1. People were so nice. My guitar player was so sweet and we sang to everyone and cast a spell with our voices. I have an audition with a band called Grounds For Dismissal this Thursday after work. Wish me luck.

Hat's On:
I have begun to collect fun hats. The kind they carry in San Gregorio. That place is so cool. It's the only place on the coast that I know of where you can eat, drink a beer, shop and listen to live music, all at the same time. If you haven't been there yet, you're missing out.

Gig's Up:
I'm already practicing for this year's karaoke night. They have them in July. We're a duet this year, going to sing Cruising. The one with Huey Lewis and what's-her-name. It should be a blast. Always looking forward to more music and more people to sing and play music with.

Beer and Beach Music: Not Just For Breakfast Any More.

I'm singing in San Gregorio tomorrow from about noon to about two. (Select Live Music and see my link on the February calendar). The same folk and pop, stuff I like, from the heart. I'll let you know how things go. I sing songs like "Angel from Montomery" and "Drunken Angel." Maybe I could tie them together somehow so it's about a drunken angel from Montgomery. Just an idea.

But On The Other End of Town...

...where I live, are these beautiful, rolling foothills. I really, truly hope the Gomers-that-be are farsighted enough when the time comes to renew the moratorium that tolls in about fifteen years. We must fight to save these hills else they will become quarried and ripped and we find our paradise paved with a parking lot similar to the other side of town. (See photo of Calpine plant, below.)

There's A Dog In My Blog.

A really great shot of TJ taken with my new digital camera.

Silent Protest.

Yeah, I want to go out there among the crowds and protest the horrors of war but I don't like getting arrested. Please, let nothing else bad happen. War is wrong and it is not the answer. Heaven help us.

To Psychosis And Beyond.

This may just astound you. Click here for a little brain tease. For inquiring minds, the result of the formula (N - (D1 + D2)) always gives the same result for each group of numbers with the same D1. 98 - (9+8) = 81, 97 - (9+7) = 81, and so forth. The puzzle simply makes sure that the same symbol is used for each of the nine possible results each time around, but switches the symbol randomly with each iteration to try and disguise this. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS, HOW DOES IT KNOW WHAT NUMBER YOU'RE CHOOSING.

What Dog Dreams May Come.

Another good one. This time I dreamed I was sneaking my dog into a Dave Matthews concert. Sweet.

Ashes to Ashes, Stars to Stars.

The astronauts we lost yesterday were each, in their own right, a star. They were stars. Now they are stars. They sought the stars, to be nearer to the stars, in and among the stars, and now they belong to the stars. Fifty, one hundred, two hundred years from now, when more and more of us are visiting, traveling and living in outer space, we'll still be thanking them for sacrificing everything for the sake of everything.
